What does a Bariatric Center of Excellence Mean for the Community?
The ASMBS Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence program was started in 2004 to advance the safety, efficacy, and efficiency of bariatric and metabolic surgical care. Truly excellent patient care is the result of both the individual surgeon and the facility at which the surgery is performed. The BSCOE designation is therefore awarded in tandem to The Physicians CentreHospital and Dr. John Mason , which enables patients to distinguish specific providers who have met the requirements for delivering high-quality perioperative and long-term follow up care from those who do not. To earn BSCOE designation, The Physicians Centre Hospital provided information on all aspects of our bariatric surgery program and processes, including data on our surgical outcomes.
The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and Surgical Review Corporation has awarded in tandem The Physicians Centre Hospital and Dr. John Mason with The Center of Excellence in Bariatric Surgery (BSCOE) Designation.
The ASMBS BSCOE program fosters quality improvement in bariatric surgery and signifies our commitment to excellence, which enhances the health and well-being of our patients. The Physicians Centre Hospital has exceeded state and local benchmarks for patient satisfaction and it is not uncommon for the hospital to receive patient letters thanking them for providing exceptional care.
Does the BSCOE affect insurance providers?
The BSCOE designation currently enables reimbursement from most major health insurers, including the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). More than 262 million Americans are insured by health plans that recognize the BSCOE designation.
